The quality of your video reviews depends on the people creating them. That's why every Reviewer in our community goes through a vetting process before they can participate in any campaign. This article explains who our Reviewers are, how they're approved, how they're matched to your campaigns, and what we do to make sure they follow through.
Who are our Reviewers?
Reviewers are everyday people - not influencers and not professional content creators. They're real consumers who are genuinely excited to try new products and share their honest opinions on camera. That's what makes the reviews they create feel authentic and relatable to other shoppers.
Our community is currently based in the United States. Reviewers range in age, gender, and background, so you can target campaigns to reach the audience that best fits your product.
How Reviewers are vetted
Before anyone can join the Reviewers.com community, they go through a screening process:
- Sample video submission. Every applicant submits a sample video review. This isn't for a specific product - it's a test of their ability to create quality content on camera.
- AI evaluation. We use AI to analyze the sample video for clarity, audio quality, lighting, on-camera presence, and content quality.
- Approval or rejection. Only applicants who meet our standards are approved. Those who don't pass are not accepted into the community.
This vetting process ensures that every Reviewer who participates in your campaign has already demonstrated they can produce a quality video review.
Note: The same quality standards applied during vetting are enforced on every review a Reviewer submits during a campaign. If a Reviewer's quality declines over time, their submissions are flagged and they're prompted to improve.
How Reviewers are matched to your campaign
When your campaign goes live, it's shared with Reviewers who match the criteria you defined during campaign creation:
- Age range - The minimum and maximum age of your target Reviewer
- Gender - The gender of your target Reviewer
Your campaign is sent to eligible Reviewers in a daily digest email. Those who are interested and pass your screening questions can claim your offer on a first-come, first-served basis until all items are taken or the 7-day campaign window closes.
Screening questions for a closer match
If your product is designed for a specific audience, you can add up to 3 yes/no screening questions during campaign creation. Only Reviewers who give a qualifying answer on all questions can join your campaign.
For example, a pet brand might ask "Do you have a cat?" to ensure only cat owners participate. A fitness brand might ask "Do you run or cycle outdoors?"
This gives you more control over who ends up reviewing your product - without hand-picking individual Reviewers.
How we reduce ghosting
"Ghosting" is when a Reviewer claims a product but doesn't submit their review. While no system can eliminate ghosting completely, we've built several safeguards into the process to keep it as low as possible:
- One campaign at a time. Reviewers can't join another campaign until they submit their video review for the current one. This creates a strong incentive to complete reviews promptly
- Automated review reminders. Reviewers.com sends multiple reminder emails to Reviewers who haven't submitted their review yet, nudging them to follow through
- Community accountability. Reviewers who ghost one time are permanently removed from the community.
- Order-based flow. Reviewers place a real order on your Shopify store using an automated 100% discount code (the discount has the prefix RVS-). This mirrors a genuine shopping experience and increases commitment compared to platforms where products are shipped without an order
Even with these measures, some ghosting is expected. The typical ghosting rate is around 10-20%, meaning the majority of Reviewers complete their review.
What Reviewers see when they join your campaign
Here's a quick overview of the Reviewer experience once they're matched to your campaign:
- They receive an email with campaign offers and click on yours.
- If you set up screening questions, they must give qualifying answers on all the questions to be able to participate in your campaign.
- They are led to your product page, where they check out and receive a unique 100% discount code covering the product and shipping. You then fulfill and ship their order.
- After receiving the product, they get a review request email with a link to submit their video.
- During submission, they see your brief (if you wrote one) and our video guidelines.
- They film and submit their video review, which goes through our AI quality check before approval.
FAQs
Q: Can I choose specific Reviewers for my campaign?
A: You can't hand-pick individual Reviewers. Instead, you define your target audience (age, gender) and add screening questions to narrow down who can participate. Your campaign is then shared with all eligible Reviewers in our community.
Q: How many Reviewers are in the community?
A: Our community includes thousands of vetted Reviewers across the United States, with new members joining daily.
Q: What happens if a Reviewer gives a bad review?
A: All reviews are honest and unscripted. A Reviewer won't be penalized for sharing a negative opinion - only for submitting low-quality video content (poor lighting, unclear audio, etc.). Honest negative feedback can actually help build trust with your shoppers.
Q: Can a Reviewer edit their review after submitting?
A: No. Reviews can't be edited after submission. Because every review goes through our AI evaluation process, changes would require going through the full analysis again. If a review doesn't pass quality checks, the Reviewer is prompted to resubmit. You can also always submit feedback on the reviews you receive via the Manage Reviews Page.
Q: What if not enough Reviewers claim my offer?
A: Campaign participation depends on factors like the product type, the target audience size, and the number of items offered. If your campaign doesn't fill up, it will still close after 7 days. You can create a new campaign with adjusted targeting to try again.
Q: Do Reviewers share their reviews on social media?
A: Some Reviewers do share their reviews on their social channels, but this is not required. The primary goal of every campaign is to collect video reviews for your brand.
Q: Are Reviewers.com Reviewers the same as influencers?
A: No. Our Reviewers are everyday people, not professional influencers or content creators. Their reviews feel authentic because they are - they're honest opinions from real shoppers who tried your product. This is what makes Reviewers.com reviews more relatable and trustworthy than sponsored influencer content.
